thermometer

Posted by jete in Shopping

Yesterday we went to Robinsons to get a thermometer. Jess said she saw one at Phoon Huat  for $20+ and Sandra said she bought hers, wmf brand, at taka for about the same price. We found only a few wmf thermometers at Robinsons but the suitable one was $35. I’m willing to pay good money for a good thermometer that will last, but that little metal piece did not shout worth it to me, so I passed. Today after lunch at the ILs, we stopped by the nearby Phoon Huat to check out their thermometer. They had a better selection. We decided on quite a pricey one but at least it can be use not just for meat and the probe can be left in the oven while the reader if outside.  We have everything sitting in the kitchen, time to allocating time and try our hands at making our own  yogurt.

more steps

Posted by jete in Daily Happenings

Paige has been taking more unsupported steps. She can walk if she wants to, but she prefers to play it safe and hold on to our hands or something. Today at the playgroup at Mel’s, she took about 10 steps unsupported, holding on to a ball. Maybe soon she’ll feel more confident about walking.

fresh milk

Posted by jete in Daily Happenings

When Paige went for her shots at the pd in late Nov, I asked if she can drink fresh milk. I knew the answer but wanted to make sure with her pd. Got the ok so I bought a carton of Horizon organic milk when we went grocery shopping. It was so expensive. I used to buy the same thing from Sams and it was less than US$5, here we paid S$16. I gave her 3oz with her brunch and she loved it. If she loves it enough to learn how to say “milk”, you know she really really likes it! :)

yogurt maker

Posted by jete in Shopping

Paige was eating baby yoplait when she was still a baby, she liked it at first then decided she didn’t like it any more (too sour). We stopped yogurt for a while then after she turned 1, I tried another brand and she loved it, but I find it quite sugary. In the end, I decided to buy a yogurt maker to make my own yogurt with organic milk. After way too much reading up on the web, I bought the severin yogurt maker, it’s not necessarily my top choice but being that the choices are limited, it was either the severin (with 7 individual cups) or smartbean (which is one plastic container). I also found the fage plain yogurt to use as starter since I’ve read that the organic powder starter from vitakids didn’t seem to work with the severin maker. Now I need to find a thermometer before I can start fermenting milk.

christmas tree

Posted by jete in Shopping, Daily Fluff

We didn’t move our christmas tree home from the US. Last year we were too busy coping with taking care of Paige to worry about xmas tree. This year we decided to buy one. We checked out a couple of stores and finally found one we like at Tangs yesterday. It was probably too big for our house but Eugene likes the 4-different-types-of-leaves look, so we lugged it home and set it up tonight. Paige didn’t seem too excited about the tree, she was interested when we opened the box, then she was more interested in picking up and playing with the fallen pines. We found one box of ornaments but can’t find the other box that we shipped home.  Hmm…. where is the other box?

little reindeer

Posted by jete in Shopping

This afternoon we went to Vivo City for some Christmas shopping. There was a xmas decorations section set up in the middle of the building (by Tangs). We saw the sweetest little reindeer and took him home. We’ll still need a xmas tree for him to stand underneath of…..

good girl, naughty girl

Posted by jete in Daily Happenings

When we ask Paige who is good girl, she’ll pat her own chest indicating she’s the good girl. Same goes for naughty girl. She takes it all. This evening we left her with her grandparents and went to SITEX. When we came back to pick her up, she had figured out she no longer wants to be naughty girl. When asked who is good girl, she still pat her own chest, but when asked who is naughty girl, she said “gong gong”

pixie

Posted by jete in Medical

Our little pixie went for her medical checkup and jabs today, she weighs in at a mere 8.375kg and measures 75cm. 10% on the growth chart for weight and 25% for height. Pd said she’s healthy and eating well so no reason to be concerned at all. We asked her about Paige’s delay in walking and she asked some questions like her ability to stand, crawl, and walk with support and said as of now it would seem Paige is just being extremely careful and nervous to walk unsupported. Pd thinks that for Paige once she walks, she will walk very well and steady, unlike some kids who wants to run before walking and their walking is always unstable. If by the next visit Paige is still not walking then we will revisit and review the situation. We’re comfortable with that.

She got her MMR and chicken pox jab. The first shot went in and she didn’t even blink, let alone cry. I thought we were done, then I saw another needle. Paige noticed that too and immediately cling on to daddy like a koala bear. This time she started crying and even rejected the pd’s peace offering of gummy bears. She was still crying when we were outside in the reception area and was slightly happier when I gave her her own cookies. Now to watch for any fever and reaction (rashes) in the coming days. Pd said the reaction can be anywhere from 5-12 days after the jab. If there is fever, it can last 2-3 days. Just in case I got a new bottle of medicine for standby since the old bottle has been sitting in the fridge for a long time.  She’s due for another round of jabs when she turns 18 months. We made appointment for end of Feb. After that appointment, she’ll be done with all her jabs.

sofas

Posted by jete in Shopping

Last night Jess told me that Mishka & Maven have closed down and some of their leftover stock are being cleared at a bedroom furniture store at TP MRT. We were looking for a little sofa for Paige but the shop at Taka had closed down when we went looking. So today daddy used his lunch hour and drove over to check out what’s left. He came home with a red armchair, a red and green double seater sofa and a mirror decor. They are super cute and for the price he paid, they are pretty good deals.

playroom/nursery

Posted by jete in Daily Happenings

Paige’s grandparents moved today and in the process also moved the furniture in our spare bedroom. Now we can turn the bedroom into a playroom/nursery for Paige. All her toys and her new sofas can be moved in there and keep the mess out of the living room.
